Which one, the movie or the TV anime?

I'm trying to learn actual digital painting myself, your art is inspiring at this point.
Up until now, my work is more like airbrush-by-numbers than real painting... -_-
I think I have been through the journey that you might going to face. Based on my personal experience, here are my suggestions, if they are helpful to you at all.
1. Loose the lines. Digital painting is a completely different mind set compared to line-drawings.
This particular video helped me to understand the basic concepts of painting. [link]
This guy's videos are excellent, although I don't like his rendering style very much, these videos are highly recommended to everyone.
2. Get help from ConceptArt.org. This forum is critique oriented, a little bit harsh the opinions might be, but very beneficial.
Join the forum, and post your pics. Not everyone's opinions are equally correct, but I believe you can follow the most common suggestions.
3. IMO, it is easier to start with landscape studies. There are plenty photographs, so you can easily understand the color and perspective in real-life sceneries.
Hmm, fight well, comrade.
I'm already coming to see what it is I do wrong with a lot of my artwork... I'm focusing so much on the details and lines and such, that the actual composition takes a back seat... I'm going to start checking these out and working on it...
